Chris - I think one of the most important parts of branding is the name of the company. I think you have a clear name for your blog/business: youngbusinessowner.com. It’s the key to creating a good brand. When you don’t have a lot of money to spend on advertising, creating a good descriptive name that helps differentiate you is important.

I would agree that starting a home-based business is easier than one thinks, but working from home is sometimes quite difficult. I find myself only working from home early in the mornings before anyone else is awake, and at night when everyone is winding down. Otherwise, I’m at the coffee shop, the library, etc. I’m considering getting an office in town; I’ve found a nice one (I’m not kidding here) for $225 per month all utilities paid (excluding phone and internet, of course). Also, I do a lot of work in New York City and I have a virtual office there that gives me a business address, a 212 phone number and a place to work when I’m in town. The point is… working from home is great, but there are many low cost alternatives available. Even if you’re in New York City, Sunshine Suites can get you a Flatiron office for around $500.
